SPALLANZANI STUDIES CENTER was established at Scandiano in 1992, but it was working informally since some years, thanks to the active cooperation among a promoting committee, Municipally and Municipal Library “G. Salvemini” of Scandiano.
The original idea of CENTER plan was shown by Giorgio Prodi, during a meeting on May, 11, 1986.

The main goals of the CENTER are:
- To promote and to encourage scientific historical studies about Spallanzani and the other scientists who marked Scandiano’s history, decisively influencing the development of Italian and European science;
- To impel meeting and joint-working among the studiouses of different experiences and branches belonging to the natural and human sciences, in reference to contemporary learning.
